a 9-month portal for women at the threshold of adulthood

october 2026 - june 2027

THERE ARE THINGS YOU ARE TAUGHT IN SCHOOL — HOW TO WRITE AN ESSAY. HOW TO PASS AN EXAM.

AND THEN THERE IS THE MUCH BIGGER EDUCATION OF BECOMING A PERSON:

  • How do I know what I actually want?

  • How do I take care of my body?

  • How do I work with my mind when life gets difficult?

  • How do I make money without making money the center of my life?

  • How do I choose work that feels meaningful?

  • How do I build healthy relationships?

  • How do I create a home, a rhythm, a life that actually feels like mine?

THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE ASK AND ANSWER IN HOME ECONOMICS.

HOME ECONOMICS IS A 9-MONTH COURSE AND COMMUNITY FOR YOUNG WOMEN WHO ARE BEGINNING TO BUILD LIVES OF THEIR OWN

— whether you are finishing college, newly graduated, beginning your career, or simply realizing that adulthood is asking more of you than you expected —

TOGETHER, WE WILL EXPLORE THE INNER AND OUTER SKILLS REQUIRED TO BUILD A LIFE.

NOT A PICTURE-PERFECT LIFE — A LIFE THAT IS YOURS.

THE INTENTION + INSPIRATION

Home Economics is a spin on the term, which some of you may be familiar with, for a course that used to be taught in high school. Home Economics was where, not so long ago, many women learned how to cook and sew and do laundry — skills that many women came to reject because they rightfully wanted more.

Strangely, I find myself and many women of my generation coming back around to the joy and immediacy of these kinds of tasks: the strange pleasure of hand-washing dishes and finding the perfect stain-removing protocol; the satisfaction of preserving favorite clothing items by mending them instead of giving them away; the grounding force of making a home-cooked meal slowly and with love. In a time so overruled by screen time, what a joy it can be to actually be in our bodies, doing things with our hands (when it is our choice to do so).

And so, this course is about teaching some of those home-tending skills we have almost forgotten. But it is also about the skills and tools we need to tend our inner worlds — to have the strength, self-compassion, and resources it takes to build a unique and beautiful life. And then, to have the practical knowledge needed to build from that steady foundation.

It is also, at its core, a community-centered exploration of who we are — of our archetypal mythos, our essence, and what wants to be expressed through us in the world. Each month will be an opportunity to explore this and to be seen by a group of sisters. We are all on the journey together.

THE EXPERIENCE

Each month in our 9 months together has a different theme, explored through two gatherings.

THE INNER

One gathering is devoted to the internal life: reflection, spirituality, embodiment, self-knowledge, parts work, ritual, meditation, visioning and the practices that help us become more deeply acquainted with ourselves and our patterns.

THE OUTER

The second gathering turns toward the practical: money, food, work, relationships, health, planning, communication, home-making and the tangible skills required to bring what we discover internally into the world.

These two poles belong together. Knowing yourself is only half the work; knowing practical tools is only half of it, too.

Life is a constant weaving of these poles — the magical and the mundane — to create the tapestry of our life.

THE YEAR

TWO MEETINGS. ONE THEME. EVERY MONTH.

Each month, we’ll meet twice.

The first gathering: inward — reflection, embodiment, spirituality, self-inquiry and skill-building.

The second gathering: outward — practical skills, conversation, experimentation and bringing the month’s theme into everyday life.

YOU WON’T SIMPLY LEARN ABOUT A TOPIC — YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO EMBODY IT.

You are somewhere in the transition between being a student and becoming an adult — and you’re realizing there is no syllabus for this part.

You want more than career advice.

You want to understand yourself.

You want to know how to tend to yourself so that you can accomplish your deepest dreams.

You want to become more capable in the practical dimensions of life.

You are spiritually curious but also deeply practical.

You want to learn how to cook, manage money, care for your body, navigate relationships, explore meaningful work and make decisions — without abandoning the inner life that gives those things meaning.

You want a meaningful community of women who are in the exact same chapter of life.

You don’t need to have your life figured out. In fact, that’s exactly why we’re doing this.

HOME EC IS FOR YOU IF…

WHAT YOU’LL LEAVE WITH …

  • A clearer vision for the life you want

  • A practical map for moving toward it

  • A deeper relationship with your body

  • Foundational skills around nourishment and home cooking

  • Practical skills for tending a home and caring for your space

  • Tools for working with your mind and emotions when you feel stuck

  • Practices for navigating uncertainty and challenge

  • A stronger sense of personal meaning and spiritual orientation

  • A clearer relationship to work and vocation

  • Greater confidence around money and financial responsibility

  • A more conscious approach to love, intimacy and relationships

  • A more grounded relationship to family and personal boundaries

  • A deeper relationship with the natural world and a sense of responsibility toward the earth

  • A community of women navigating the same threshold

  • And, perhaps most importantly, a growing sense that you are capable of making the life you’re dreaming of

A COMMUNITY PORTAL

This isn’t a lecture series.

It’s not therapy.

It’s not college.

And it’s not a networking group.

IT’S A SMALL COMMUNITY OF WOMEN LEARNING, EXPERIMENTING AND GROWING ALONGSIDE

ONE ANOTHER.

There will be teaching, conversation, reflection, practical exercises, experiments to try between gatherings and space to ask the questions that don’t always have an obvious place elsewhere. AND, your own wisdom and that of the sisters in this group will be the medicine you are seeking.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF EDUCATION

There is a reason this used to be called Home Economics. At its best, the subject wasn’t really about homemaking — it was about learning the skills required to create and sustain a life.

We need that education now more than ever.

And perhaps the home we are learning to make isn’t only a house: it is a home within ourselves.

Home Economics is an invitation to learn how to inhabit that home — and then build a life around it.

JOIN US IN OCTOBER.
